We’ve Started!!!

This week has been great. It is amazing how something so small can motivate a whole class so easily. We are working away at problems we are facing, especially with the email. We need to find a way of getting our work off the devise for marking. We have tried email, gmail, Dropbox but all have been blocked by our network. We will keep working on them. Apparently webDAV is another option, but our server needs to be tweaked for it. I have spent a lot of time in the IT office this week, and can see many more hours in there ahead of me.
In class we have all (nearly!!!- soon Lateesha & Anthony) got our own devises and are spending time on Keynote (like PowerPoint) and Pages (like MSWord) so that we can use them in our learning programs. Today we started our ‘Blueback’ Booklet for English using Pages – they look great!!!

I will be away from school on Monday 8th August. Ms McCarthy and I will be at the CEOWA office in Perth learning more about iPads in the classroom. Hopefully when we return on Tuesday, the iPads will be ready for our lessons.

Gearing Up For iPads

Posted on July 22, 2011 in Uncategorized by shelleyalexander  Tagged , ,

Welcome to Term 3, 2011.
This term will see us trialling the use of iPads in our English and SOSE classes.
This is so exciting and will mean some differences to the way we operate in our classroom.
The biggest change will be in our approach to homework. Homework will now be used for “FRONT LOADING” the topics we will be covering in class.
Front Loading is when the “teaching” elements of the lesson/s are done at home, while the class time is used for interactive activities.
My aim for this term is to take the emphasis off “teaching” and put it onto “learning”.
Looking forward to a term of change, growth and learning.
